GUILD PRO’S

The first training course for guild PRO’s was piloted in Castlemahon recently.

Inclement weather is no barrier to PRO’s and having travelled from many parts of West Limerick they soon got down to business with the introductory talk on ‘Castlemahon and its story’ by May O’Connor, who founded the local historical society with her ICA colleagues some years ago. May has steered this group in its formative years and now the local society reap the fruits of their labour with their Journal No 29 about to be launched. An overview on the Irish Countrywomen’s Association by Joan Hayes was welcomed bearing in mind the New Constitution now to hand. Norma Prendiville of the Limerick Leader led a workshop on best practice for PRO’S in carrying out their duties in publicising the organisation through local media channels, mainly the printed media. Those West Limerick members unable to attend on this occasion may wish to avail of a further such day in the New Year. Among the locations likely to be on offer will be Kilcornan, Cappamore and Ballyneety and members will be advise accordingly.
