Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending Dec.3rd


PRESIDENTS REPORT
At the recent Federation Meeting, The President, Anne Gabbett  welcomed all the members and especially the new members who were attending their first Federation Meeting. Anne was delighted to report that membership numbers in Limerick were up as many guilds have new members and we hope they participate and enjoy all ICA activities.
She thanked all those who took part in The Sewing Bootcamp and said that it was a very good public relations day for ICA. Anne also thanked the knitters,  who handed in Hats Scarves and Wrist-warmers for the heart foundation. Thanks to the great generosity of ICA members this venture was a great success.
A lot of classes are being run by ICA guilds around the county with Mainistir Na Féile, Feenagh and Kildimo holding classes supported by Co. Limerick VEC Community Education Service.
Anne was happy to announce that Chef, Edward Hayden will be back in Limerick on February 28th with a whole new menu. Tickets will be sent out to guilds soon.
TABLE ARRANGEMENT
The standard in the flower arranging competition was excellent and the winners were 1st Shelia O Riordan, Caherdavin 2nd Carmel Breen, Oola 3rd Mary Condon Fedamore and Highly Commended, Mary Beary, Oola.
COMÓRTAISÍ  GAEILGE
Bhí an Timire gnóthach ag cruinniú  baoill an Fhomhair an tseachtain seo chaite.Glac go leor daoine part ins na comórtaisí Gaeilge agus bhí an bua ag Caisleán  Úí Thruaigh sna comórtaisí fóirne agus ba í Mary Lonergan as Caisleán Úí Thruaigh arís a bhuaigh an comórtas bia.
GUILD OF THE YEAR
Marie Hayes wishes to remind all guilds who are taking part in the guild of the year competition to keep recording all activities meetings classes and competitions. If you are not sure about an event you are advised to put it in anyway and it can be sorted out during judging.
CRAFT DAY
Carol O Keeffe , craft officer will be holding A Craft Day on the second Saturday of March 2012. It will cover Crochet, Quilling and Trapunto (Italian Quilting). If you are interested contact Carol at 0879721440. The venue will be decided later.
PAINTING COMPETITION.
Mary Moloney, arts officer will have a painting competition at The Spring Federation Meeting on Feb21st. You are asked to paint A Winter Garden Scene In Acryllic and it must be unmounted and any size.
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
Opportunity for aspiring actors,storytellers and performers to participate in a family orientated interactive performance event being held in The Hunt Museum Limerick.
The event is being held on Sat. Dec.10 from 1 – 4.30 pm
Participants will be asked to perform the roles of various historical characters for 3 short storytelling and interactive intervals. Costumes and props are provided.

CONGRATULATIONS
To Galbally Guild who are celebrating 65 years of ICA  and Kildimo Guild who are celebrating 30 years of ICA we extend our good wishes and best of luck for the future.
AROUND THE GUILDS
Castleconnell guild held their International Night in November and it was a very informative occasion when a young man from Georgia was their guest. He told them that he came her to do farm work and he did not ha a word of English. The farmer encouraged him to do classes and now he speaks fluently and was able to tell the all about the country he came from as well as his experiences here.
Caherdavin are off to The GreenHills Hotel for their Christmas Party.
Lierick City Guild held a coffee morning for The Simon Community and the would like to thank the members and the neighbouring guilds who supported them. A very generous cheque was presented to The Simon Community.
