Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending May 11th


PRESIDENT’S REPORT:-
Limerick Federation President presented her first Annual Report at the recent Federation AGM.
Phyllis was indeed a very busy lady attending all Federation and National meetings, various committee meetings, County Enterprise Board and meetings of “The Gathering” for the Limerick area. She also attended the first “Wellness” workshop at An Grianán and subsequently accepted an invitation, via The Community and Voluntary Forum, to a full day wellness workshop in Limerick. Plans are on hand to hold two such workshops locally, one in the East of the County and one in the West. These will take place in September/October when dates and venues are finalised with SOS.
During the year The President encouraged all members to play an active role in ICA at all levels. Limerick Federation “Having your Say” programme was rolled out. All members were encouraged to express their views on topics such as Federation, Your Own Guild and in the future you will be asked for your views on An Grianán and the role of Information Officers.
As president Phyllis visited many Guilds and was delighted to promote the social aspect of ICA by attending celebrations and competitions as well as organising many other Federation events.
WINNING MENU:-
Well done to Joan Meaney of Crecora Guild on coming third in the final of The Gem Pack Competition. Her winning menu was
Starter – Creamed Butternut Squash. Gem Barley Risotto with a Parmesan Chilli & Gem Walnut Crust.
Main Course – Roast Leg of Lamb with Gem Prune & Bramly Apple Stuffing served on a bed of roast garlic and Dalkey mustard mash with a Gem Marrowfat pea & Mint Puree.
Desert – Chilled Gem Semolina layered raspberry compot served with roast Gem Flaked Almonds and fresh Raspberry coulis.
CRECORA OUTING:-
This year the Crecora ICA ladies and their friends are off to Bloom on Thursday May 30th.They are travelling by coach and if members from other guilds would like to join them they are very welcome. Contact Anne Marie at 086 8622624 or Joan at 087 7761349.
Crecora are a very busy guild and have just completed the term teaching knitting to the children of 4th class in the local National school. All enjoyed the experience including the boys.
GLIN GUILD:-
Glin ICA ladies have just finished a Yoga Class and if you live in this area they would be delighted to welcome you to their meetings. At the recent AGM the following officers were elected. President – Roseline Horan Secretary – Grace Holly Treasurer – Norma McKeon. The monthly meetings are held in Cloverfield Centre Glin on the second Friday of every month at 7.30 For anyone interested in card playing they hold a Whist Drive every Tuesday Night at Cloverfield Centre at 8.30pm.
AN GRIANÁN:-
Airtricity Garden Festival takes place at An Grianán May16th –17th
Thursday 16th Arrive in time for Lunch @1pm
Half day Gardening Course
High Tea and Evening Entertainment in the bar.
Friday17th
Breakfast followed by trip to Garden Festival at Hillsborough Castle
Tea/Coffee & Shortbread on arrival
Return in the evening to An Grianán for High Tea and depart after meal

LIMERICK WEEK:-
Parchment Craft will also be available if there are enough interested to form a class.
You will learn to trace, emboss and colour handmade greeting cards on parchment. Techniques in many forms of gridwork, coloured dry pencilwork and whitework for more advanced students.
