Condolences are extended to Kathleen Leahy of Mainistir Na Féile ICA on the recent death of her sister Eileen Howels (nee Healy) of Luton, UK and formerly of Killarney Road, Abbeyfeale. Mrs Howels’ funeral took place at The Church of the Sacred Heart, Luton on Wednesday April 8th 2009. Leaba i measc na naomh.
Sympathy is also extended to Margaret Ryan, Doon ICA on the death of her mother Mrs Bridget Murphy (nee Barrett), Rosbrien and formerly of Barnagh, Newcastle West.Mrs Murphy is deeply mourned by her husband Cyril, daughters, Anne, Margaret, and Martina, sister Mary their families, extended family, friends and neighbours RIP. Her funeral took place, following Requiem Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church on Thursday last April 16th; to Doonass Cemetery.In iothalann De go gcastar sinn.
Fun Run/Walk
The annual ICA Mini Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Research will take place on Sunday May 3rd, commencing at 2pm outside Woodlands Leisure Centre, Adare. Your support and that of your friends would be much appreciated. Sponsorship cards available through the Guilds.
BEALTAINE FESTIVAL
The May time Arts Festival celebrating creativity in older age is being launched this week. What was once an idea is now major festival with an estimated 55,000 people participating throughout the country. Bealtaine builds momentum each year and its influence grows. Opening Doors to something new and Spreading the word are many National Institutions, Public Libraries, Parish Halls, and Community Centres, in fact anywhere that groups of older people converge and participate. Among the listings for the Limerick area is Bantracht na Tuaithe, Cill Díoma whose art group The Killulta Painters will hold their Art Exhibition aptly entitled’Bóthairín an Smaointe 11’.Officially opening on Thursday April 30th in’De Bucket’Pub, Ferrybridge the exhibition will continue for the month of Bealtaine. Material may be forwarded either to Federation PRO or directly to Central Office by May 1st 2009.Orders for supplies of this issue, together with appropriate fee of €2 per copy, should also be placed now .

How are your records for the Guild of the Year Book coming along?
At the end of May, when the year is completed, your entry should then be prepared. Please forward to Annette Long, Federation Contest Secretary, together with entry fee of €10, not later than Tuesday June 30th. Each federation will select two winning entries for National Contest.
