APRIL 2009 AN GRIANÁN FBD SPONSORED COURSE

MAINISTIR NA FÉILE EN FETE

The buntings are up, the champagne is on ice, the Canon has spoken, and its all systems go for the ladies of Mainistir Na Féile ICA. The party is on!
Founded forty years ago in this West Limerick market town on the River Feale, the group has many reasons to celebrate. Their achievements are well documented, and their contribution to the local community and Limerick Federation widely acknowledged. Located near the Limerick-Kerry border many of their members are Kingdom natives and the entire group has always intermingled very well fostering a rich tradition in culture and heritage. Visitors from home and abroad were entertained over the years and there has always been a cead mile Fáilte for founder and former members.
However the icing on the cake has to be the recent news that ‘ one of their own ‘has been chosen as National President Elect of the ICA. Ann Maria Dennison of Convent Street is well known far and wide, but none more so than in the town where she took up residence and the management the family drapery business on marrying Frank.
Anne Maria will receive the chain of office as National President of the largest women’s organisation in the country, the Irish Countrywomen’s Organisation,
on Wednesday May 27th in Kilkenny. There to support her will be her Mainistir Na Féile colleagues and friends, joining with the many other friends from Limerick Federation and around the country.
This is just the beginning of the Mainistir Na Féile partying!

NATIONAL AGM FUNCTION

As is customary a farewell dinner in recognition of the achievements of outgoing National President and officials will be hosted prior to the incoming President taking office. This function will take place in the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny on Tuesday May 26th and further details will be available at Federation Annual General Meeting in Woodlands Hotel, Adare on Monday May 18th.

JOBS FOR THE GIRLS

Honorary positions presently vacant at Federation level include Arts Officer, Craft Officer, Grianán Teachta and Vice President. Members are invited to consider putting their names forward and in the event of more than one nomination for any position being received a secret ballot will take place in accordance with ICA constitution rules.

Fun Run/Walk

The annual ICA Mini Marathon in aid of Breast Cancer Research took place on Sunday last May 3rd in Adare . Spotted among the participants were members from Cappamore, Clarina, Feenagh and Limerick City. If possible, the return of sponsorship cards to organiser Mary Blackwell at the forthcoming Federation AGM on May 18th would be much appreciated.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
Observe the postage stamp..... its ability to stick to one thing until it gets there.
