Women Worldwide - The Voice Of Today


During the coming week National President Anne Maria Dennison will lead a delegation of ICA women from various parts of the country to the 26th Triennial Conference of ACWW located in Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas ,the only American city nestled within a national park. There members from the Associated Country Women of the World will converge to deliberate on the problems incurred by women worldwide and in particular by those in disadvantaged areas. A full report will ensue at the National AGM in Adare on
Wednesday May 26 2010.

Cookery Demonstration

Oola I.C.A, in association with Ailish Hennessy of Fiacri Country House Restaurant and Cookery School, will hold a Cookery Demonstration in Ballykisteen Hotel, Limerick Junction on Monday 26th April at 8pm
Cheese and wine reception and Food tastings from various stalls at 7.30pm
Proceeds to Charity (including the Special Olympics), which will be held in Limerick in June. Tickets €10 each

Centenary Scarf Makers

Federation Vice President Anne Gabbett is co ordinating this centenary exhibition and seeks your support in reaching the magical number of one hundred. She will gladly accept all entries at the Federation meeting in Woodlands next week … Wednesday April 28. Please finish off your entry (ies)

and add your centenary contribution to this novel project.All entries will be exhibited at National AGM.

Annual General Meetings


Guilds are presently holding their annual general meetings which  must be completed before the Federation AGM on Wednesday April 28 in Woodlands Hotel, Adare. The annual membership fee of €50 per member is now due and should be paid to the guild’s hon treasurer as soon as possible.
In addition to electing new officers for the year ahead, EU speakers
will address this Federation meeting. matters relating to the Europen Parliament and its legislation will be discussed and questions on same dealt with. Spot prizes for the National AGM may also be handed in at this meeting.

 Féile Na Bealtaine
The National Library., Kildare Street, Dublin will host two events to mark the centenary of the ICA within the Bealtaine Festival.
There will be an open ICA Panel Discussion around the ICA, at the library, on Friday May 21 between 1pm and 2pm with time for audience Q and A. Included in this panel, chaired by an outside facilitator, will be National President Anne MariaDennison and other experienced ICA members .Do try and go along there. Easy access as a bus from Heuston Station stops  outside the door !.
There will  also be a display of archival material relating to the ICA from the National Library which is being curated by the staff of the National Library
There are three aspects to the exhibition;

A selection of local histories to emphasise the regional spread

Some general publications explaining the ICA

A section concerned with the range and affect of the ICA detailing the breadth of the archive
The Library are keen that attendees see this as a living archive, and encourage people to submit more local histories, and to explore the archive for themselves. A comment book will be available encouraging people to leave their own thoughts and reminiscences.

This exhibition will remain in place for the summer months.




Bealtaine Art Exhibition

At local level The Killulta ICA Painters, Kildimo will hold their Bealtaine art exhibition ‘Bóthairín na Smaointe 111 in ’De Bucket’ Pub,Ferrybridge during mí na Bealtaine. All are invited to drop in to the official opening which takes place on Thursday April 29 in ‘De Bucket’ at 4 pm. Exhibition continues for the month of May. Bí linn agus Fáilte
