Mary Twohig and Marie English,Oola ICA

Special Olympics

It was a night to remember in Thomond Park at the Special Olympics closing ceremony last week. Representatives from Oola, Kilmallock, Limerick City, Cappamore and Murroe guilds were joined by

National ICA President Anne Maria Dennison and Federation President Anne Gabbett as guests of

Gaye Moore and the fundraising committee. These guilds are to be commended having raised a substantial amount towards the holding of the Special Olympics through various fundraising activities which helped in no

small way towards the running costs.

This Wed June 16 in Woodlands Hotel, Adare is the date of the last Federation meeting before the holidays. Members travelling to Áras an Uachtaráin on Tuesday July 6 will have an opportunity to meet up as will those members going to Limerick week at an Grianán, also around that time.

An Grianán Teachta Helen Lane is busy finalizing arrangements for Limerick week with members from Glin to Oola and many places in between travelling. Fortunately Feenagh’s Pauline Power, herself a veteran Grianán

visitor, will be on board should any disturbance arise when these ladies leave the Golden Vale and head for the wee county!

of the Gortlamain guild, located near Barefield, Ennis. As part of this guild’s centenary celebrations

a very rare craft indeed.

Castletroy members are busy arranging other visits for the summer months with lots of choices in the Mid West being considered,

Gourmet Cooking

‘Thers’s only one street in Drumcollogher’ or so Percy French led us to believe!

An opportunity exists to allow you check that out for yourself on Tuesday July 6

should you wish to attend an evening of Gourmet Cooking with Frank Moynihan.

This event takes place in The Community Hall, Dromcollogher, commencing at 8pm.

Tickets are a modest €10 and may be purchased from Lorraine at (087) 6561342 or at the door on the night.

Frank, who is a Chef Instructor, will be remembered in his days as food correspondent

on the Gay Byrne Radio Show and author of a best selling cookery book ‘A Pinch of This’.

Congratulations to the organising committee of the Dromcollogher Festival, which celebrates its 70th

Anniversary this year, as they prepare for their 2010 event which will run from July 2 to 11.
