The Peoples Choice
Congratulations to Marie Daly, whose painting ‘Roundstone Bay’ was chosen by the public as their choice in the ‘Comóradh Céad Bliain’ art exhibition in Dooradoyle Library which concluded last week. Marie was the sole entry from her guild in Raheen and will be presented with her prize at the forthcoming Federation Meeting on Wednesday September 29 in Woodlands Hotel, Adare.

Federation president Anne Gabbett wishes to say a sincere thanks to all who supported in any way the Milford Hospice Fair which took place on Sunday last. The support of ICA members and friends was much appreciated.

Pitch and Putt

Best of luck to sports officer Kathleen Griffin and her fellow team members Margaret Ryan, Doon, Pauline Malone, Crecora, and Helen Mackessy, Kildimo as they travel to An Grianán this Friday to participate in the national Finals of Pitch and Putt.

National Ploughing Championships
Once again The National Championships will take place on the Fennin lands in Athy, Co Kildare.The dates are from Tuesday 21st – Thursday 23rd with the European Championships on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd. Competitors and visitors from no less than 15 countries are expected to visit the area giving the event a truly International flavour. Kildare Federation in conjunction with National Officers will host the ICA marquee and National ICA President Anne Maria issues an open invitation to all to visit the ICA stand 497.

Competitions

Federation contest sec Marie Hayes invites all members to make some cup cakes for the next federation meeting on Wed September 29 in Woodlands Hotel, Adare. Six cupcakes of your own recipe and decorated as you see fit and submit on federation night by 7.30pm with an entry fee of €3 per entry

The children of East Limerick produced 50 plates of cup cakes at the Cappamore Show recently sooo  ……

If photography, reporting, or crochet are among you’re interests an opportunity is now at hand to enter one or all of the forthcoming national competitions

a) Photography requires photo of animals or birds 2 categ. Black & White or Colour Min size 5’’ x 4’’

b) Reporting 500 words approx centenary ICA event.
c) Crochet Collar

Bonnets for Roses
Many ICA members and others including members of the patchwork society participated in this project last year, a unique memorial to the convicted women from Ireland  who were transported to Australia at the end of the 18th century. The story of the women, in words and music, has been  presented  in various locations around the country and last week-end both in Cobh and in  The Women’s Jail in Cork City. This federation was represented by President Anne Gabbett,Patricia Cronin,Feenagh and Mary Moloney,Drombanna and it is anticipated that the exhibition will return  next year to the Limerick area.
