News from The Guilds
Ballyhahill/Loughill are among the guilds that celebrate their Pearl anniversary this year. An outing to Killarney during the long sunny days of
summer provided an ideal opportunity to walk, enjoy the scenery and most important of all to reminisce. Departed friends Kathy Long and Eileen Skinner were remembered, as were some of those founder members of the original guild from the 1940’s.
Following dinner there were loads of laughter with Brendan Grace, not that these ladies are short of fun themselves. Many will recall their humerous parody on ‘Make and Model’at the Millenium party and other Halloween Party pieces eg ‘Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs’!
The guild is a strong supporter of federation and among their members who held officer roles there are Geraldine Cahillane, Majella O’Connor and Peg Prendeville. More celebrations are planned before the year ends.
Kilbehenny
Members in the Galtee town of Kilbehenny will resume on Tuesday Sept 14 at the Community Centre when planning for the year ahead will form part of their agenda. Of course there will no doubt be much discussion on their very enjoyable four-day trip to Donegal which included visits to Coole Park, Drumcliffe, Glenveagh and Derry City. Indeed many have already expressed an interest in a further trip in 2011.
Ballingarry Guild will hold their next meeting on Wednesday October 6 having had a most successful Sept one. Their guest speaker Michael White gave a wonderful talk on garden designs and landscaping.
