FEDERATION AGM: All officers gave their reports on their areas of responsibility for the past year and written reports were circulated in book form to each guild. Newly elected officers were announced and will be taking up duty during the month of May following the ICA Annual General Meeting and the holding of the Federation handing over meeting. President Anne Gabbett , in acknowledging the contribution of the members for the past year, is looking forward to an equally successful year ahead.
She thanked all for their assistance and also for contributing so generously to the Adapt collection taken up at the meeting .She wished everybody an enjoyable summer.
Following the AGM business Ballyhahill /Loughill members  entertained the gathering
with their Eleanora Gibbon Variety Show musical entry,’Hands’ winning National  Poetry entry by Kay Hickey of Castleconnell was recited, Art entries were judged and the piece de resistance ,the  homemade muffins, which were also in competition, were enjoyed by all.

NEWS FROM THE GUILDS: Ballyhahill/Loughill ICA members Peg Prendeville and Majella O'Connor ,who are on the editorial team of their Parish Annual ,are delighted to see the fruits of their labour in print. The Ballyhahill/Loughill Parish Annual 2011 is now for sale in all local shops or from any member of the team.
Caislean Nua Their next meeting will be on Thursday May 5 at 8pm in The Brothers of Charity Premises, Lacey’s Cross near the town. Members have decided to opt for the Irish name … Caisleán Nua following in the strong Gaeilge connections of Iathar Luimnigh. Go neirigh go geal leo.
Castlemahon held their AGM recently with Nuala Condon taking on the Presidential role and all eager to get down to business. An Interior Design course is presently in progress with lots of refurbishing and make overs planned. Their An Grianán Teachta Mai O’Connor has assured all travelling to An Grianán for Limerick week, that the rumour about a Boot Camp is totally unfounded !
Castletroy: Members had a very   busy time recently preparing hats for the "Easter Bonnet” competition. Pitch/Putt has commenced and their book club is currently reviewing “Diamonds and holes in my shoes" by Deirdre Purcell. Their Bridge/45 club is in full swing and their Coffee/Chat club meet every second Tuesday. New members most welcome. Further information from Guild President Maureen Sheehan (086)1690413
Crecora ICA guild is commencing a six week interior design course on this Thursday April 28 at 8pm in Crecora community centre. Fee €15 and both members and non members are very welcome.
Kildimo ICA Painters are finalising their ‘Bóthairín na Smaointe IV’Art Exhibition in conjunction with the Bealtaine Festival which encourages older people’s participation in the arts. This will be held during Mi na Bealtaine  at ‘De Bucket’Pub,Ferrybridge.

DAICHEAD BLIAIN AG FÁS: This years, Listowel Writers’ week promises to be a very special event celebrating its 40 years of growth, where all are welcome and encouraged to hear and participate in a celebration of literature. Information from www.writersweek.ie


ARTS FOR ALL: Organised by the newly formed Ballyhoura South Arts Network is an all ages event to celebrate and explore the creativity of Ballyhoura Country and will take place in the Maple Ballroom, Kilfinane on Saturday May 7 from 2-4pm . The event will feature an extraordinary range of local talent celebrating the amazing arts and cultural activity which is available within the region On the day people will have the opportunity to try out a range of arts and crafts skills including pottery making, visual art, photography, African drumming, traditional crafts, etc. whilst also hearing about and seeing many of the cultural activities which are taking place in various areas of the region including Bulgaden, , Kilbehenny Kildorrery Kilfinane ,Kilmallock and Mitchelstown.An open meeting to finalise details for the event takes place on this Thursday, April 28 in Teach na Cille in Kilfinane at 7.30pm.
