NATIONAL AGM: All Federations from around the country were represented on Saturday last May 21 at National AGM in Portlaoise. Members from Askeaton/Ballysteen, Caherdavin, Cappamore, Castleconnell,
Castletroy, Clarina, Drombanna, Kildimo, Limerick City, Mungret, and Oola travelled to join with their colleagues from various parts of the country. Address by National President Anne Maria Dennison set the tone for the day ,followed by various reports including Financial, Implementation of ICA strategy 2010/2011, Policy& Procedures also General Report. Congratulations were extended to the recently elected members of the 2011/12
Procedures Standing Committee: Phil Brennan (Westmeath), Deirdre Flanagan (Mayo),
Joan Lenehan (Kerry), Ann O’Connell (South Tipperary) and Mary O’Reilly, Wicklow.
Comhgairdeas also to Eileen Tighe, Barna guild, Co na Gaillimhe who was elected Connaught Vice President. Eileen (nee Roche) is a West Limerick woman who left her native Castlemahon to pursue her studies in Galway and settled there. Her sister Nuala Condon ,Castlemahon Guild President, and all her Limerick friends extend their best wishes to her .The social side of all ICA gatherings is never forgotten and on this occasion National President Anne Maria was there to congratulate and  present a bouquet of flowers to Clondalkin founder member  Ann Doran  who  will celebrate her 100th Birthday shortly .Ann has already celebrated with Uachtarán na hEireann Mary McAlleese in Áras an Uachtaráin  and of course her own guild have a surprise in store  also. 



 ADARE AREA: An open night will be held on Wednesday June 8 in Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare commencing at 8pm.There will be presentations on various ICA events and activities both from a local and national perspective and also information on new guild formation if such an interest is expressed. All ladies from Adare and surrounding areas are invited to attend.
LIMERICK LACE: An introductory class will take place on   Monday June 13 at Dunraven Arms Hotel, Adare  7 pm to 9pm with craft teacher Marian O'Callaghan. CONGRATULATIONS: Federation President Anne Gabbett and her husband Michael are celebrating the arrival of a second grandchild and all good wishes are extended to them and the proud parents Mairead and David.
ARTS AND CRAFTS EXHIBITION: Following the success of ‘Comóradh Cead Bliain’art exhibition last year another exhibition entitled ’Le Chéile I ’is being arranged in Newcastle West Library.
This event will be officially opened on Tuesday July 19 at 3pm and will conclude on Friday July 29 when all entries may be collected between 11am and 1pm. On this occasion all members are invited to participate with one entry ONLY per member either in art or craft. Entries may include paintings in Acrylic, Oil, Pastel, Pen and Wash, Watercolour or any craft of choice and all entries must be must be mounted, framed and ready for hanging.  Details of each guild’s entries, on guild entry form, should reach Federation Arts Officer Mary Moloney not later than Friday July 1. Paintings /Craft to be handed in to NCWest Library between 11am and 1pm on Monday July 18 .This should be a most enjoyable cultural event.
COMHBHRÓN: Condolences are extended to Hannah Luddy, Kilbehenny ICA on the recent death of her mother Mrs Eileen O’Brien (nee Moher), Mitchelstown RIP whose funeral took place following Requiem Mass in Mitchelstown to adjoining cemetery on Thursday May 19 .
Deepest sympathy is extended to Eilís McNamara and family, Glin on the death of her husband Martin  RIP,whose funeral took place on Saturday May 21 ,following Requiem Mass in Glin to local cemetery.
Members of Cappamore ICA together with the wider community were in shock on Saturday last on the tragic death of Kieran O’Dwyer. Condolences are extended to their ICA colleague Joan McLoughlin,(aunt )and to Kieran’s extended family in Cappawhite.His funeral took place on Tuesday last May24,following Requiem Mass to adjoining cemetery in Annacarty.

CHANGING OF THE GUARD: As and from next week-end these notes will be compiled by Patricia Cronin, Feenagh who has been elected as Fed PRO  and outgoing PRO Phyllis O’Halloran wishes to extend a céad mile fáilte to Patricia to her new role . Phyllis also wishes to thank all who assisted her in her PRO role since 2007…mile buiochas do gach einne. She was recently been elected as Federation Vice President.
