Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending Nov.19
UPCYCLING BOOTCAMP
If you are interested in sewing then go along to the Ormstons Stores on Patrick’s Street in Limerick on Saturday Nov19 anytime from 2 to 5pm. Members of The ICA will be there demonstrating simple sewing skills answering questions and exchanging ideas on repairing and re designing garments. ”A Stitch in time saves nine” so the old saying goes so everyone should learn a few simple sewing skills and you will be amazed at how easy it is to do repairs and get years more value out of your clothes.

Any members with memories of upcycling in the past are asked to pass them on to Federation President Anne Gabbett who is always delighted to share in the store of wisdom of members and their friends.
COMPETITIONS
The Limerick Federation Table Quiz takes place on Tuesday Nov.29 in The Woodlands Hotel Adare.A table of four for €20 and there will be cash prizes on the night. Please send entries to Marie Hayes before Nov22
Flower arranging competition takes place at next federation meeting Nov 22.Members are asked to make a flower arrangement suitable for a table centre. Arrangements cannot be more than18 inches wide and 18 inches high.You are asked to use winter foliage, fresh flowers and a candle only.Please send entries to Marie Hayes before Nov 17 and entry fee is €3.
There are two National competitions for the springtime 1.Creative Writing-Title: A Mystery to be Solved.2.Inter Federation Cup for Crafts-Bookmark Three categories: Cross Stitch/Blackwork/Embroidery. For more details contact your guild secretary.
AN GRIANÁN
Christmas party nights will be held at An Grianán on Tue 6 Wed7 and Thurs8 of December. A Christmas Market will be held in conjunction with the party nights and Frankie Gavin and De Dannan will give a concert on Dec7 at 8pm. DOON GUILD
Due to a bereavement in Doon the Mass scheduled for Nov 10th was cancelled. It will be celebrated now on Nov.17th, with Mass in the Parish Church at 7.30pm followed by light refreshments in The Community Centre. Margaret Anderson tells us that they are looking forward to seeing all present members and past members at this special occasion.
