ANNUAL ARI MID WEST REGIONAL CHRISTMAS DINNER & FUN DAY

The Woodlands Hotel, Adare, Co Limerick was filled to capacity for the ARI Mid-West Region Christmas Dinner and Fun Day on Sunday afternoon, November 29 2009. Members representing all the areas in the region, namely, Limerick City and County, Clare and North Tipperary were in attendance. As usual the Woodlands excelled itself in its high standards of cuisine. Guests on the day included the organisation’s Chief Executive Officer Maureen Kavanagh who addressed the gathering, recently appointed information and networking officer Peter Kavanagh and Jim Collier of The Senior Times. Also in attendance were the Officers from the Region including Cathaoirleach Phyllis O’Halloran, Development Officer Seamus O’Shea and Hon Secretary Maura Lyons who acted as MC and had a major role in ensuring that everything went smoothly. The raffle for Spot Prizes, many donated by the attending ARA’s, was ably conducted by Kay Murphy and friends from Newmarket on Fergus Co. Clare. Following the food, the fun element was conducted in their usual ebullient manner by husband and wife duo, Sheila and Jerry Abraham members of the County Limerick Civil Defence ARA and residents of Ennis. The music for dancing was by Danny Webster and several guests performed their party pieces to the delight of all. The communal singing of the Mid West Anthem was performed with gusto. All too soon it was time to bid farewell to Sweet Adare and as the groups made their way to their various homes in Shannonside, the Galtees and the Silvermines, the Banner and nearby the Barony of Kenry the hopes and aspirations expressed by all was
