Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending December 1st

QUIZ WINNERS:-
Congratulations to The Glin ICA team who were declared the winners of Limerick Federation Quiz which took place in The Woodlands Hotel on Nov21st. The team members are Julie Ryan, Rosaline Horan and Norma McKeon and they will go on to represent Limerick in The National Table Quiz Final which will be held in An Grianán in March 2013 so we wish them the best of luck. In second place on the night were a combined Kilmeedy/Cappamore team of Mary Canty, Mary Irwin, Marie Hayes and Mary Blackwell and Kildimo finished third. The event was well supported with sixteen teams taking part so well done to all.
GLENSTAL WALK:-
About twenty ICA Ladies assembled in Glenstal on a beautiful autumn morning for a sport and leisure event led by Federation Officer Mary Canty. There was a choice of long or short walk and some went to visit the lovely Icon Church where they were given a guided tour by Fr. Christopher.
You could keep this place in mind for a visit on your summer outings next year as it is a very pleasant place indeed.
WINTER CONFERENCE:-
Limerick Federation was well represented at The ICA Winter Conference which was held In The Red Cow Hotel on Sat. Nov. 24th. In the morning session Liz Wall National President and John O Callaghan CEO gave their reports. They are both very happy with the progress the Organisation has made during the year and are delighted to report that The Ploughing Event and The Knitting and Stitching brought in some new members. We must continue to support The Education College at An Grianán so all Guilds should be planning a visit there next year. Liz Wall spoke about the success of The Cookery Book and also told the gathering about the new book that is in the planning stages. The title of this book will be The ICA Book of Home and Family. All members are asked to collect and submit useful tips and anecdotes for this book.
The afternoon consisted of group sessions and various aspects of ICA were discussed . They took a look at the place of ICA locally , nationally and internationally and all the ideas collecte4d will be used to plan the way forward for The Organisation.
A NEW YEAR PROJECT IN DROMCOLLOGHER :-
It is hoped to start a Country Market, to be held in The Organic College , Dromcollogher in early Spring. All interested parties are invited to become members/producers of this market. In order to become a member it is necessary to grow/cook or make your produce, including home baking, preserves, arts &crafts of all sorts. RTE FRONTLINE:-
There is an invitation from RTE to guilds and individual members to attend The Frontline as part of The Live Audience. The Frontline will be on air every Monday up to and including Monday Dec17th. The programme is broadcast live every Monday night at 10.35pm and those attending are asked to arrive at RTE in Donnybrook at 9.15pm with photo identification. FRIENDS OF AN GRIANÁN:-
This is an organisation which helps fundraising for An Grianán and also sponsors some scholarships. Membership only costs €5 per annum and can be paid to Mary McNamara , 1 Woodlands, Maynooth, Co. Kildare.
