MAY 09 Adare Members Dolly O'Neill and Breege Murray wishing Anne Maria Dennison well as National ICA President Dennison wellas National Presidency of ICA
Tribute to Anne Maria Dennison
By
Peg Prendeville, Ballyhahill/Loughill ICA
Well done Anne Maria you’ve made us proud
And we are all happy today
It’s nice to have one of our own hold the role
Of National President of the ICA
But we, here in Limerick, are in no way surprised
As your talents you’ve always displayed
Each role that you held came easy to you
As you climbed the ranks of the ICA.
Your manner! Your style! Yes, you have it all
And your enthusiasm is infectious I say
You’re the best person to lead us into
The centenary of the ICA
For next year will be a momentous year
We have great reason to celebrate
Its 100 years since a group of young women
Sowed the seeds of the ICA.
The votes have been counted; the result is clear
Anne Maria Dennison is leading the way
Into this next centennial year
As National President of the ICA.
KILKENNY TRAVEL
As the fleet of coaches wound their way over the Feale early this morning with one location in mind there was not a murmur to be heard. Head of transport Rita Horgan had everything in place and onward the group progressed collecting members as they moved through West Limerick in the early morning sunshine. First stop was for the Castlemahon delegates where Nuala Condon had the Limerick flag flying .Peg Prendeville and the Ballyhahill /Loughill entourage were ready and waiting before the appointed time and so it was all the way through East Limerick with stops in the villages of Boher, Pallasgreen, Dromkeen and finally to Oola before crossing the county bounds to Tipperary.A few more friends in Bansha and Cahir and then full steam ahead to the City on the Nore. Today is Limerick’s day and the prize is ours. Today when the National President of the Irish Country Women’s Association is installed, it will be a West Limerick Woman who steps forward to receive the chain of office .It will be our member from Mainistir na Féile who will lead the organisation for the next three years, which includes the centenary year of 2010.
Well-done Anne Maria Dennison. We are proud of you.
