Former Federation President May O'Connor congratulates Anne Maria Dennison,Mainistir na Féile on her inauguration as National ICA President in Kilkenny last week.
PRESIDENT’S DIARY
Now those events have taken their course National President will be due a short break to gather her thoughts. However one very important visit of high priority this week was to her own guild in Mainistir Na Féile where they partied again last night to the small wee hours and where the organising skills of head of transport Rita Horgan were put to the test by some of the Kerry visitors.
PLANNING AHEAD
Such is the enthusiasm in arranging their thirtieth celebrations, which coincides with the organisations centenary, that members down on the estuary have arranged a brainstorming or perhaps a rainstorming walk on Tuesday next June 9 in the Gortnadroma area. With plenty of fresh air no doubt Ballyhahill/Loughill will not be wanting and the ideas should be coming fast and furious!!!
CRAFT OFFICER REMINDER
Pat Cronin of Feenagh reminds members of the wonderful opportunity that exists during the summer months to participate in the various categories of arts, crafts /baking in the local agricultural shows. With shows coming up in Kilmallock, Newcastle West, Cappamore and Limerick in addition to those in adjoining counties there will be no shortage of locations to display the members talents with an added bonus of taking home a rosette or two.
BONNETS FOR ROSES
The Mayo ICA extended their project in collecting bonnets for Roses t to almost every area of the country. Their representing Limerick Federation recently were Ann Gabbett, Mungret and Ailish Lahiffe, Crecora who delivered in excess of one hundred handmade bonnets from this area. The gathering point was in Crossboyne, near Claremorris where typical ICA hospitality was extended to all who came for the blessing prior to sending the consignment to Australia as part of the overall plan. Well done to all who made bonnets including Clarina, Drombanna, Mungret, and Limerick City.In the coming year the entire exhibition will visit various countries including Ireland.
