Crecora Guild
The ladies from Crecora, unlike their sisters from other guilds, rarely return home on the same day they set out. On a recent such outing their first stop was for morning coffee but the location also had another element to it. The Kildare town of Newbridge is of course famous for many reasons but on this occasion it was their silver that the ladies were seeking out. Onward then to An Grianán where the sunny place lived up to its name. Time for a refreshing cupán tae, short rest, change into their finery including their hats and all and off to the Garden Party. Fine food, choice wines, good company, music and song were part of the course. All to soon it was time to finish with ‘Limerick You’re a Lady ‘led by National President Anne Marie Dennison. Overnight lent itself to late night chatting and reminiscing with friends from many parts and the sun was rising over the Cooley Mountains for many before sleep came. A visit to the Grianán Garden Centre before departure and then the journey south began. More retail therapy en route including Johnstown Garden centre and Newbridge, eventually returning to their Limerick base, tired and content go dtí an chead uair eile.
Knitting and Nattering
Kildimo’s Knitting and Nattering evenings last autumn in ‘De Bucket’pub, Ferrybridge provided lots of fun knitting over a cup of coffee and a chat. Their craft officer Kathleen Coughlan promises lots more such events this autumn with a few surprises thrown in.
For those of you finding difficulty in sourcing knitting materials you may be interested in a recently opened knitting and stitching shop in Dublin ‘Stitch’ (01) 8429033 which provided an online service. www.stitchireland.com

Agricultural Shows
Opportunities for showing the fruits of your labour be it art, baking, jam making, craft work, flowers, vegetables etc is at the various Agricultural Shows taking place around this time. For a modest entry fee you could well be bringing home a rosette or two in the knowledge that your cherry cake or patchwork cushion stole the show. Local Shows around the county and adjoining areas are all taking place during July and August with the longest running Iverk Agricultural Show now in its 183rd year, in Piltown, Co Kilkenny during the beginning of September. Plenty of choices.
