Condolences are extended to Joan Cagney of Ballyagran ICA on the recent death of her husband Willie RIP. A Native of Graigue, Castletown Willie is deeply mourned by his wife Joan, daughter Helen, sons Liam, Gerard and Eamon and his brother Timmie. Following Requiem Mass in St Michael’s Church, Ballyagran on Friday February 19 his funeral took place to Castletown Cemetery.

Charity Cookery Demonstration
Knockarron, Knocklong ICA are arranging a charity cookery demonstration, in on Thursday March 4.The venue is Knockcarron Community Centre and events will start cooking up at 8pm. Admission is €10 and all proceeds are in aid of Haiti disaster fund, Well-known chef Mary Rose Sampson will demonstrate her skills and a raffle for some delicious goodies will be part of the evening ensuring that all palates are well catered for.
Do come along and support this worthy cause.
Activity Day

National Conference
The Spring National Conference of the organisation takes place on Saturday March 6 in Brandon Hotel, Tralee. Registration commences at 10.00 with the opening address by Anne Maria Dennison National President at 11.00.Among the items on the agenda are ICA membership Development, and Financial Management. Guest speakers include a representative of ESB and The Irish Heart Foundation. All guilds are invited to have one voting delegate present and there is also a céad mile fáilte to all other members..

Lá Idirnaisiúnta Na mBan
On March 8 each year International Women’s Day is celebrated remembering the struggle of women past and present. Starting off the celebrations Bantracht na Tuaithe invite all women to an Ecumenical service in Augustinian Church, O’Connell St, Limerick on Monday March 8 at 11.30 and afterwards to join them for coffee.
Later on in the evening at 8pm Newcastle West Library staff will be hosting their celebrations with an all male cast of entertainers. Once again Beidh Fáilte is Fiche róimh gach einne
Display of Scarves
An invitation is extended to make a scarf to commemorate the organisation’s centenary using any medium of your choice e.g. knitted, crochet, tatting, materials, incorporating your choice of embellishments. Send expression of interest form, together with €3 fee per entry to Anne Gabbett on or before April 16 2010.Judging will take place at Federation AGM on Wednesday April 28 and all entries will be on display at National AGM in Woodlands Hotel on Wednesday May 26 2010
Mainistir Na Féile Abú
Anna Nash of Mainistir Na Féile guild is to be commended on her recent successes in both the Arts and Gaeilge competitions. When the results were announced at Federation last week it was her poem on the ICA centenary, which was awarded first prize. Fuair sí an chead duais freisin ag léamh sliocht i nGaeilge as ‘Fóinse’.
