Fed Notes W/E October 2 2010

National Ploughing Championship
Full marks to the Kildare Federation and National Officers on the very fine ICA tent and presentation in Athy at the Ploughing Championship last week. Fresh from her appearance in ICA reality show on RTE 2 recently was Breda McDonald from Mullinvat demonstrating butter making skills. Other reality stars present were Carlow’s Imelda Byrne and Josephine Helly from Ardlahan Hat making and St Brigid’s crosses, were among the crafts demonstrated and also of interest was beekeeping and the display of a set of dolls representing the past ten decades of ICA. The souvenir booklet of Bantracht Na Tuaithe issued there was excellent and to be treasured by all who visited the tent. Next year sees the 80th anniversary of the championship, which returns again to Athy, where it all began back in 1931.
