Violence against Women Campaign


The 16 days of Action will run from November 25th which is International Day against Violence against Women) to December 10th (International Human Rights Day) and aims to :
  • Highlight the prevalence of violence against women.
  • Raise awareness of violence against women as a human rights issue at local, national and international level.
  • Show the solidarity of women around the world organising against violence against women.
  • Work towards the elimination of all forms of violence against women.
It is an international campaign, which started in 1991 and now has over 1000 organisations from over 139 countries participating

News from the Guilds
Ballingarry Guild are delighted to welcome back Robbie Curtis to their Dec meeting on Wed 1st in The Hall. An exciting cookery demonstration is assured, full of hints and tips for the festive season, followed by raffle and refreshments.
Castletroy members are holding a‘Christmas Fair’ in Kilmurry Lodge Hotel,

Christmas Gifts
If you happen to be the recipient of an ICA friends generosity this Christmas Christmas some jewellery may be in your stocking. Last weekend there was a large gathering at a jewellery workshop organised by Federation Craft Officer Carol O’Keeffe with all participants leaving with finished products. An Grianán instructor Eleanor Hewitt conducted the course and members from various parts of the county attended.
Another gift which might  be under the tree is a copy of the ICA centenary calendar which was published last week, Many of the’calender girls’ are well known in Limerick Federation and for a modest €8 is an ideal centenary memento. 
Carol Service
An Ecumenical Carol Service is being arranged at St Michael’s Church, Barrington Street on Saturday December 11.Commencing at 6pm, carols will be sung by the Limerick Federation Choir, and a céad mile Fáilte is extended to all. Next rehearsals will be on this Saturday November 27 at 3pm in Raheen Church/Hall.
Artisans Craft Fair
Christmas fairs will be held in Limerick Milk Market, which is an all weather facility, on November 25, December 7, 8, 9 from 12.00 midday to7pm. Demonstrations by artisans throughout the day. Should you fancy making your own Christmas wreath workshops will be available throughout these days.
