Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending September 3rd
AUTUMN COMPETITIONS
Now that September is here all ICA guilds will be back into action so there are two interesting competitions planned for the Autumn Federation meeting
Scones
Class A 4White Scones
Class B 4Brown Scones.
Members may enter both classes. Entries to be presented at Federation meeting in Woodlands on Tuesday September 27th. Entry fee €3 Please text number of entries per guild to Marie Hayes, Compt. Sec. 0872453037
Handwriting Competition
Mary Moloney, Arts Officer has a seasonal competition where members are to write the following piece
The Weather Glass at Marylands

‘The glass is rising’ saith mine host,
Each morning though the clouds are grey.
‘The glass is rising! Never mind
The showers and the gusty wind,
It surely will be fine today!’
For rain or fog or snow or mist
It rises still, the optimist!

LACE CLASSES
People interested in doing Limerick Lace classes on Wednesday evenings 7.30 to 9.30 are asked to contact Carol O Keefe 061 393153 or087 9721440
There is also a possibility of a Monday afternoon class 2.30 to 4.30 so if you are interested in this
class give your name to Carol as soon as possible.
THE ENORMOUS COURGETTE
Agnes Collins of Castleconnell guild came up with a new idea for fundraising in the ICA camp at the Harvest Fair . The challenge was guess the weight of the courgette . People lifted it ,measured it looked at it and even went away for a while to think about it . In the end eight people drew for first place and the winner was Noreen Butler , Pallasgreen and the actual weight was 8lbs 15ozs.
Agnes who is a very good gardener grew the courgette in her own garden so well done to all.
FUNDRAISING
This year Limerick Federation ICA collected €5130.85 for Breast cancer research in Galway and Clarina Guild are to be commended on the great effort they put in and the wonderful contributions they made to this worthy cause.
AN GRIANÁN
Helen Lane is organising a short break in an Grianán November22 to 24 and the theme is preparing for Christmas-cooking flowers and crafts.The cost is €199 and if you are interested contact Helen 061 394241.
