SPRING FEDERATION MEETING:-
Limerick Federation Spring meeting will take place at The Woodlands House Hotel on Tuesday February 21st at 8pm. These meetings are very well supported and there is great opportunity for networking and collecting some new ideas for your own guild. New members are also encouraged to come along and you will get a better idea of what ICA is all about. Three Competitions will be judged on the night. Bring along your Winter Garden Scenes in acrylic and The Simnel cakes for The Gem Pack Competition and also the knitted garments for The Tivoli Make and Model Competition. The winners of all these competitions will represent Limerick in The National Competitions.
TIVOLI MAKE AND MODEL COMPETITION:-
ICA is delighted to welcome Tivoli as sponsors of The Make and Model competition this year.
Members are asked to hand knit one item to wear on a Spring Outing. You must make and model the outfit at the National Finals in An GrianĂ¡n in March. 2012.
The wool to be used is New Celtic Aran from Tivoli.
Tivoli Patterns should be used, but if you want to add or alter the pattern in any way, this is also acceptable.
Closing date for Federation entries is Feb. 17th.
COOKERY DEMONSTRATION:-
Limerick Federation are hosting a night of cookery with Edward Hayden in The Woodlands House Hotel on Tuesday Feb. 28th at 8pm. Edward will be cooking from his new book “Food You Love” and all dishes will be raffled on the night. Come early for the best seats and bring along your friends. Tickets are €20 and are available from all guild secretaries.
DUBLIN VISIT:-
All members who would like a free trip to visit The EU Parliament Offices in Dublin on Thursday Feb 23rd are asked to give their names to Joan Hayes before Feb. 17th Phone 061-355357 mob. 087 7761 349. A coach will leave from the bus park at the back of the Omniplex Cinema in the Crescent Shopping Centre at 7.30 am, arriving in Dublin about 11.30 am. There will be a talk by the European Parliament staff followed by lunch. The afternoon is free and the coach will leave Dublin at about 5pm.
RANKS BAKING EXHIBITION:-
If you have any of the following items , Ranks flour sacks, flour packaging ,flour scoops, Ranks recipes cards/pamphlets , meal bins, Blue Cross Animal Feeds bags, Ranks advertising, baking tins and objects related to the broader theme of changes in home baking practices since the 1940’s/50’s/60’s Contact Jacqui Hayes at City Hall phone 061 407100
BAKING MEMORIES:-
Do you remember you mother or grandmother baking ? Then write an account of you memories including the rituals sounds and smells also the baking ingredients and equipment and the changes that took place over the years. Bring them along to the Federation Meeting on Feb21st. Guilds will get one point per entry for the Guild of The Year Competition.
