“Tír gan teanga tír gan anam”
All ICA members are asked to use a little Irish during the month of March. This is the year to revive the Irish Language so let us all get in in the act. Bain trial as –use the words and phrases you know and you will have a comhrá going in no time. “Is féidir linn”
AROUND THE GUILDS:-
Castletroy  ICAare delighted  with the success of their recently launched “craft morning”. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month in The GAA Clubhouse Monaleen. With the help and guidance of Nora O Connor many members are learning new skills. A VEC computer training class will commence on Wed. Feb 29th at University of Limerick – special thanks to Regina Duane VEC. Castletroy ladies are holding their first ever Charity Quiz Night on Friday March 9th at 9pm in Monaleen GAA Clubhouse – Table of four for €20. Proceeds go to ADAPT HOUSE . You are all asked to go along and support them on the night.
Caherdavin guild is the largest in Limerick and their line up of guest speakers is very impressive indeed. Majell Foley Friel spoke on the services that are provided by Adapt House in Rosebrien. They had Sharon Crawford of Mobile Fitting Lingerie and tell us that she is also willing to go out to peoples homes for fittings. In December they had their Christmas Party in The Greenhills Hotel. In Jan. the had the annual Mass for deceased members and in Feb. they had Beauty Consultants from Boots Chemists and for their next meeting in March they will have a speaker on The Body Talk System.
DAY OUT:-
On Feb.24th a bus full of ladies from all parts of County Limerick travelled to Dublin to visit the Offices of the EU Parliament in Molesworth Street. We were met by Harry O Connor who gave us a talk on the history since Irelands entry in 1973 up to the present day. There are now 27 member states and soon we will have 28 as Croatia will join in 2013. We saw the original letter written by Sean Lemass to Professor Ludwig Erhard applying for membership for Ireland .This year is the 50th anniversary of CAP- The Common Agriculture Policy and as the years go by we see the  “deepening of the EU which means that the EU now has a greater role in all member states. The second speaker was Caroline Curneen from The European Consumer Centre and she gave a very interesting and informative talk on shopping on line. This was followed by Lunch which we all thoroughly enjoyed. After lunch we had a short visit from Phil Prendergast MEP who spoke about her work in The EU Parliament and then it was off to the shops . We travelled back to Limerick and all agreed that we had a most pleasant day out. Members brought back some interesting leaflets which they will share with other guild members at the next meeting.
