FUN AND FRIENDSHIP IS THE WAY FORWARD:-
This was the theme of the ICA Election Rally held in The Kilmurry Lodge Hotel on March 4th. “Maireann croí éadrom I bhad” A light heart lives long so ICA ladies say good bye to doom and gloom as the election candidates  promise to move forward with confidence and determination in the years ahead. Each Regional candidate and national candidate had three minutes to speak and this was followed by a lively questions and answers session. Their plans include the development and growth of business at An Grianán, increasing membership and bringing back the element of fun and friendship that was the hallmark of ICA from the start. Now it is hoped that all guilds will cast their votes – they are willing to put in the work so give them your support. Votes must be completed and returned to ICA Central Office before Wednesday April 18th and the results will be announced on April 20th.

AROUND THE GUILDS:-
Mainistir Na Féile
The ladies from the west are running a very busy guild with lots of variety to suit everybody. They had eight weeks of cookery with Karen O Shaughnessy. This was followed by an exercise programme for four nights of keep fit. They then decided to be a bit adventurous and put on a workshop on Haiko writing given by local girl Mary Shanahan. Mary is a writer and has recently published a book of poetry. The workshop was a great success and all the ladies had great fun writing and reading out their Haiko verses.
Castlemahon:-
Congratulations to Castlemahon who are celebrating 40 years of ICA with a party in The Devon Inn, Templeglantine on March 20th at 7.30pm. Certificates will be presented to Mai O Connor  for 60 years membership of ICA Nuala Condon for 40 years and Anny lynch 20 years. The guild had a busy year with lots of guest speakers on topics such as growing and using herbs, women’s health issues, The work of The Brothers of Charity and visiting Australia. They also have a crochet class in progress at the moment and this continues until March29th.
Castletroy:-
Well done to the Castletroy Ladies who held their first ever charity event on the 2nd anniversary of the founding of the guild. They ran a quiz night and were delighted with the support they got from their own area and their neighbouring guilds. All proceeds were given to Adapt House. Maureen Sheahan also tells us that the guild are tracing the history of Limerick Lace and hope to take part in the St Patrick’s weekend display in The Hunt Museum Limerick.
