Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending April 14th


LIMERICK FEDERATION AGM:-
The Annual General Meeting of Limerick Federation takes place in The Woodlands House Hotel, Adare on Tue. April 24th at 8pm. It is hoped that all guilds will be represented at this meeting when we say farewell to the present officers and welcome in the new team. A special word of thanks goes to Anne Gabett and her fellow officers for their enthusiasm and hard work and indeed they can feel proud of the fact that membership has increased to 591 in 2012.
COMPETITIONS:-
The results of The Guild of the Year Competition will be announced on the night of the AGM  so remember that your entries must be with Marie Hayes by April 20th. The Craft Boards for the Biddy Mullane Cup will be judged on the night of 24th so bring them along with you to the meeting.
LE CHÉILE 2:-
The Art and Craft Exhibition entitled Le Chéile 2 will be held in Kilmallock Library and will be officially opened at 3pm on May 10th. Items will be accepted at the Library on May 3rd between 11am and 1pm. For further details contact Mary Moloney, Arts Promoter.083-3544625
BEALTAINE FESTIVAL:-
The 2012 Bealtaine Festival which is Age and Opportunity’s annual celebration of creativity in older age takes place from May 1st to 31st. During Bealtaine people from 55 and upwards are encouraged to take part in The Arts as artists, performers, event organisers or audience.
CONVERSATIONAL IRISH:-
The ICA are delighted to support all campaigns that encourage the use of the Irish Language so we hope lots of members will sign up to Bernard Dunne’s Bród Club. All you need to do is use the little Irish you know and this will encourage others. Look up www.rte.ie/brodclub/ and “get back on the capall”

SPONSORED WALK:-
This year the sponsored walk for breast cancer research takes place on Sunday May13th. The walk will take place in Adare –leaving from The Heritage Centre at 2.30pm. There is free parking at the rear of centre and sponsorship cards are available from guild secretaries.
ADAPT HOUSE:-
Toiletries for Adapt House will be collected at The Federation AGM . Last year we got a great response to this appeal and Adapt House were very grateful for your generosity.
HOME MAKER COURSE:-
Ballyhooley ICA in CO Cork have just completed a very successful 4 week Home Maker Course with Gerry Condon , lecturer in design at Griffith College. If any guilds are interested in putting on this course he would be delighted to talk to you.
