Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending April 28th

CONGRATULATIONS LIZ:-
Congratulations to President Elect Liz Wall who emerged as winner in the ICA National Presidential Election. Liz from Ashford Guild gives Wicklow Federation its first President and we all wish her the best of luck as she takes up her new position. Four Regional Presidents were also chosen-Aloma McKay and Norah McDermott will represent The South and East Region and Mary Harkin and Kathleen Gorman will represent The Border Midlands and West Region. The National Treasurer is Mary Harrahill and the other positions will be filled later.
SUCCESSFUL BOOTCAMP:-
Believe it or not but the men were the stars of the show when Murrtoe/Bother ICA held their very own version of Bootcamp recently. Breda Fitzpatrick writes to tell us it was laughter all the way from start to finish. The four contestants, Brian McNamara, Paul Ryan, John Egan and Br. Ciarán from Glenstal Abbey gave a great nights entertainment. It was a privilege to have Josephine Helly and Imelda Byrne to judge the competition. Míle Buíochas to all who travelled from near and far to support this fund raising night for Milford Hospice. The overall winner was Brian McNamara,a local Garda and the ladies would like to thank everyone who helped to make the night such a wonderful success.
PLANNING AHEAD:-
All the AGM’s are over now and the new officers will be making plans for the months ahead. Here are a few ideas you can explore and you may get a little funding to support your plans. Go For Life is A national Programme for Sport and Activity for older people. The Programme aims to involve more older adults in all aspects of physical activity more often. Some funding grants are available for Locally Based Community and Voluntary Organisations and the contact details are www.olderinireland.ie Tel. 061 496463 or061 496428 mobile 0872079172.
County Limerick Adult Education Guidance Service also provides a wide range of activities and their Information Officer, Eveleen Moloney is available at 06962667.
Regina Duane of The Community Education Section ,Co Limerick VEC has been most helpful in providing tutors for a whole variety of classes organised by ICA in Co Limerick. Gardening ,computers, crafts, painting, beauty,health and nutrition are just a few of the classes that were held
last year and now is the time to plan for the Autumn. Regina can be contacted at 061 442100
LE CHÉILE 2:-
The annual Art and Craft Exhibition entitled Le Chéile 2 will be officially opened at 3pm on May10th in The Library, Kilmallock.  Items for the exhibition will be accepted at The Library on May 3rd between 11am and 1pm. Further details from Mary Moloney, Arts Promoter 083-3544625
MÍLE BUÍOCHAS:-
Outgoing Federation President, Anne Gabett would like to thank her Federation Colleagues and all the members of Limerick ICA for their support during the past two years. She said that it wasw a great privilege to have been Federation President and that she really enjoyed her term of office. Anne wishes the incoming President, Phyllis O Halloran and the new Federation committee a most successful  term.
