Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending July 28th

A DAY OUT IN LIMERICK:-
Thirty two members of Caherdavin ICA Guild in Limerick opted for a local summer outing and were fortunate to pick an afternoon of rare fine weather. They booked a ride on The Viking open – top bus and found the experience both fun and fascinating. The guide was great but the star of the show was the city itself. It looked beautiful from the bus top with it’s core island enclosed by those two great rivers and beyond them it’s Georgian Squares and Terraces. The ladies were full of praise for Limerick Corporation who loving care for the parks and plant flowers on the bridges and the public squares. The bus eventually dropped the group at Leamy’s Old School, now the Frank Mc Court Museum, and the old class memories were shared with Una Heaton, the inspiration and driving force behind the museum with its acting “múinteoir” Oliver Hayes. It was fascinating to browse through the mementos of the forties and to sing the songs of that era in the Old School Hall.
The afternoon ended with a fin meal in the Pery Hotel and just as the group emerged to catch the bus home the first drops of rain fell. Deborah Geraghty and her fellow travellers say thanks to the organisers who made this June interval between the showers so memorable.
LIMERICK WEEK:-
Teachta, Anne Rowlands and a large group of Limerick Ladies returned from a delightful stay at An Grianán. It was Annes first duty since stepping into her new post and it was a very successful trip. All agreed that the bus from Limerick made travelling to an Grianán much easier and you had no worries about luggage until you reached your destination.  We look forward with interest to a more detailed report on hairpin crochet , Limerick lace ,fitness, pamper me, painting, digital photography and I hear some lovely masterpieces were completed.
