Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending Sept 1st


CRECORA ICA:-
The ladies of Crecora ICA Guild are back with a bang. Their first meeting of the Autumn Season will be held on Thursday Sept the 6th and their guests for the night are Kate O Donoghue and Marie Hibbert who will give a talk on Patchwork/Quilting. All are welcome on the night especially new members and people who would like to come along to find out more about ICA.
All ICA guilds will be getting back to work after the summer break so this is a good time to join in. Just go along to a guild near you and you will be assured of a “céad mile fáilte. Meetings are usually advertised in the local media or you can contact Federation President Phyllis O Halloran  0872452336 or Federation Secretary Mary Moloney 087 9397514 and the will be delighted to help you.
HIGH TEA AND TALK:-
SoS and ICA are coming together to promote mental wellness in our society.
On September 10th a special event will be held at An Grianán at 2pm for influential ladies from Irish Society. The day promises to be a fun and entertaining one that is open to all ICA members as well as members of the public. Tickets for the event are €20 and overnight accommodation is available at An Grianán by contacting 041 19822119
All ICA guilds are also asked to hold events in their own communities and Liz Wall National President feels that ICA will play its part by “making a real difference in our communities.
SoS has committed to using funds raised to run “wellness workshops” in the local communities. The Wellness Workshop is a day filled with practical and easy to use tips and strategies that will help participants to take responsibility for their own mental health. The aim of the “Wellness Workshops”, which SoS have rolled out in over 50 locations nationwide, is to raise awareness of mental health issues and support those affected.
AN GRIANÁN 13th -15th NOV. 2012:-
Anybody travelling to An Grianán on the above dates needs to pay a deposit of €100 as soon as possible to secure a place. Cheques, Bank Drafts or Postal Orders should be made payable to Limerick Federation ICA and given to Anne Rowlands , An Grianán Teachta. Ann’s address is Woodcock Hill, Meelick, Co. Clare. A few places are still available on this trip.
FEDERATION CRAFT DISPLAY:-
All those who completed Arts and Crafts pieces during Limerick Week at An Grianán are asked to put them on display at the Autumn Federation Meeting on Sept 26th in The Woodlands House Hotel. Please get in contact with Annette Long or Rita Horgan and let them know what you have to display.
“THE END OF THE COUNTER”:-
Laura Mc Gann is making a documentary about the Change over from over the counter shops to self service shopping in 1964. Her gran dad started MACE and did some filming of these stores during the change. Laura wishes to talk to ICA ladies about their experiences and memories of this time.
