ICA HANDBOOK:-
The new updated HANDBOOK for ICA members has been posted to all Guild secretaries. It is a very good book and members will find it very useful. It tells you everything you need to know about ICA and it is invaluable for women taking up responsibilities as officers at Guild, Federation or National level.
Limerick membership is on the increase with 505 paid up members already and a few more Guilds yet to register. You are reminded to send in the final fees, including any additional members, as soon as possible.
DROMBANA ICA:-
Drombana ICA are back in full swing after the Summer break. The first meeting takes place on Wednesday September 5th and their special guest is Peggy Garry who will give a talk on First Aid. Computer classes funded by Limerick VEC will resume later in September. They will also have Crochet classes in October and anyone interested in joining is asked to contact any member of the Guild. And to all their members who were ill over the Summer, a speedy recovery to you and hope you will be back in action soon. This year the Guild will be 40 years in existence and plans are underway for a big celebration. Former members are asked to contact Breda Flood on (061) 351803 or Una Hartigan on (087) 7860523. If anyone has photos of past events and founder members, the Guild would be delighted to have these on loan. New members are also welcome, so come along to any of the events or meetings.
CAHERDAVIN ICA:-
Anne Rowlands of Caherdavin Guild would like to inform members that the first meeting of the Autumn is delayed until September 20th as the Guild are off on an Indian Summer break to the Dales & Lake District! We hope they have a wonderful trip!
HISTORIC WALK:-
Mary Canty, Sports & Leisure Officer, has organised an historic walk of Old Stonehall and Curraghchase for Saturday Sept 22nd. Meet at 11am at the crossroads before the entry barrier to Curraghchase. Please let Mary know if you are interested – mobile (087) 0530279. This promises to be a learning experience as well as a pleasant stroll in the September sun.
AN GRIANÁN:-
Special deals are available at An Grianán for September and October.
September 24th to 28th presents the following classes: Pressed flowers & handmade cards, Digital photography, Farmhouse cookery, Yoga & Reflexology, Stumpwork and finally, Songs we love to sing. Prices include tuition, accommodation and meals. ICA members €330, Non members €360.
October 1st to 5th offers a choice of Paint in Acrylics, Computers, Bridge for Improvers, Flower arranging, Fit, fun & active, and finally, Ditigal photography. Prices are as above.
The Sanctuary beauty salon will be opened and advanced bookings are required for booking treatments. Tel: (041) 9822119. Gift vouchers are available also, so why not treat someone special to a relaxing break away.
PITCH & PUTT COMPETITION:-
The national pitch & putt competition will take place on Thursday October 11th 2012 in Seapoint Pitch & Putt Club with a Fourball Shotgun Start at 10.30am. Teams should arrive at 10am. The closing date for entries is September 21st. €90 for a team of four and this includes lunch for four at An Grianán. Send your entries to ICA Central Office, 58 Merrion Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. All entries must include participants names and please make cheques payable to “ICA Contest Committee”. Overnight B&B is also available.
LIMERICK LACE CLASS:-
Limerick Lace Classes will resume in late September. If interested, contact Annette Long. Annette also reminds us about a competition for pin cushion in any medium, which should be brought to Federation meeting on September 26th. Entry fee is €3.
HARVEST FAIR:-
Well done to Limerick ICA, who ran a very successful grocery stall at Milford Hospice Harvest Fair on September 2nd. The ladies were in action early in the morning setting up shop. The goods kept flowing in all day. Sales were brisk and there were bargains galore! Thanks to all who contributed to this worthy cause.
