Limerick Federation ICA Notes Week ending Sept. 15th


AUTUMN ACTIVITIES:
Limerick Federation is a hive of activity this autumn with something to suit everybody.
All guilds are asked to host a High Tea and Talk event and the monies collected will be used to hold a “wellness workshop” later on.
Historic Walk- Mary Canty ,Sport and Leisure Officer has organised a historic walk of old Stonehall and Curraghchase for Saturday Sept. 22nd. Meet at 11am at the crossroads before entry barrier to Curraghchase. For further details contact Mary at 0870530279
Poetry workshop- Federation Arts Officer, Rita Horgan, has plans to hold a poetry workshop in Abbeyfeale on Saturday October 13th from 10am to 4pm. This is the ideal opportunity to try something new so if you are interested please get in touch with Rita at 086 3738626.

Quiz buffs will be delighted to hear that Limerick Federation table quiz will be held on Wed. Nov. 21st in the Woodlands House Hotel at 8pm.  A table of four costs €20 and the winners will go on to the finals at An Grianán. The questions will include a variety of general knowledge, current affairs and ICA  affairs.
Limerick Lace classes will resume in late September and if you are interested contact Annette Long. Annette also reminds us that the competition at the Autumn Federation Meeting is a pin cushion in any medium and the entry fee is €3. We also look forward to seeing the exhibition of art and craft work done at An Grianán during Limerick Week.
CRECORA HIGH TEA:-
A tea morning in aid of SoS will be held downstairs in Crecora Community Centre on Thursday Sept 20th 9.30 – 11.30 and voluntary donations shall be gratefully received.
CASTLETROY:-
ICA Castletroy wish to remind everyone that Sept 18th at 7.30pm is the date/time of the next Guild Meeting and the venue is Monaleen GAA Clubhouse. New members are welcome along for a taste of what ICA is all about. A very busy agenda for the year ahead is planned with lots to do including competitions, days out and craft mornings. Maureen Sheehan PRO is also delighted to report that the took 3rd prize in The Facinator Competition at Cappamore Show and the Guild Competition for the next night is “home made strawberry jam”.
CAHERDAVIN:-
It is back to action also with the ICA Ladies of Caherdavin and the September meeting will be held in the local Scout Hall on Thursday Sept 20th. Looking forward to seeing you all after the summer break and new members will be very welcome also.
DANCING AT THE CROSS ROADS:-
Terry Butler supervisor of tours at Farmleigh House, Aras an Uachtarain and The Phoenix Park invites ICA members to display crafts or join in the set dancing at a special day of Irish Culture in The Phoenix Park on Sunday Sept 16th from 3pm to 6pm. HOME LIFE IN IRELAND TODAY:-
The National Conference on Home Life in Ireland Today will be held in The Regency Hotel, Whitehall, Dublin 9 on Sept 18th from 7.30 to 10.30pm. Admission €10 or €15 for couples.
Presenters- Dr Justin Brophy (consultant psychiatrist) Michael Culloty (MABS) Anne Dunne –Senior Counsel , Sr. Kathleen Maguire and Dr Tony Byrne from The Awareness Education Service.
SEASONAL RECIPIES
Sharing of knowledge and skills is always part of ICA life so if you have any old favourite seasonal recipies we would be delighted to get them. You can pass them on to any member of The Federation team or bring them along to the September  Federation meeting.
